The Swimmers
Yesterday, on Netflix, I watched a movie called, The Swimmers Netflix, I liked this movie because it a plain and simple story of two Syrian sisters who followed their heart among the world renown crisis, they moved to a different country and had the courage to fulfill their dreams.
Living in India, many times I though our lives are so much perfect that we don’t have any idea how the world works, what is happening in the rest of the world, some of the issues that people from middle eastern, and European citizens are facing, we can never relate them to. There are issues like war, like climate change, like asylum, refugee problem, anarchy, as an Indian, I never really thought about these things until I became adult enough to see outside my country window.
India had few issues and many internal issues, but for someone like me who stayed his almost entire his life in Delhi, it seems I was all too oblivious to everything, until very recently when there were riots around my house because of some act that government tried to push.
Coming to the movie, it was a really nice movie and sometimes I rue this fact that why don’t I carry such passion for one single thing that the main protagonist of the movie had for swimming. My mind remains all the time flying from one thing to other. The movie part was partly shot in war torn Syria, showing the struggle of Mardini sisters to move to a safe country in Europe. They swam across sea, they walked miles, they experienced seeing their beloved homeland going through ruckus. It was a real story and I loved the way it was portrayed in the movie without any prejudice. What was shown was real struggle, a drive, a passion to achieve something. Dreaming big and working hard to achieve those dreams and one day making those dreams true.
Movies inspires me a lot, as in just three hours they make me experience, which I never had before. So I love movies and taking the journey as if I myself one among the travelers seeking asylum like those two Mardini sisters.
Definitely recommend to anyone.
