It is very hard to focus in life. I always get curious to understand more about mind’s working and how to control it. I tried to take all routes spiritual, scientific, philosophical but it seems like our inner consciousness is above than all this.
In past several weeks when I was away from my blog I was reading books, and tried to understand and increase my understanding about consciousness. What I have understood is that since ancient India it always remain an interesting topic. There were many who have described the consciousness as something which is uniformly distributed and carry the same nature among all of us. It seems this is the consciousness which makes us, US. It seems this is the same ingredient that God/Super power that controls us, carry and it is must to understand that. Anyway I tried some practices, I was pretty much excited and was making good progress until I again got disturbed with some events which was beyond my control. But anyway let me share what I experienced.
The biggest question you can ask from yourself is, “WHO AM I?”
It is a question that can settle your mind because your mind can’t answer this question. At least not mine. By seeing my hands and legs and other part of my body I cannot say that this is me, this is just my body. Now who is calling this body as mine? Think objectively here. Who says that, “My name is Yash”, who says I have studied this and that, or I live in this country? Who is this “I”? My mind become mute on these questions. I cannot even say that I am son, husband or father of so and so. As that not truly defines WHO AM I? Then who am I exactly?
As per Hindu scriptures asking this very same question again and again will push you in a deeper level of tranquility and will eventually reveal your true nature, which should not be different from the nature of super power that controls us.
I have also started reading a book that talks about explaining consciousness. It actually describes the Hard Problem of addressing Consciousness. It talks about the fact that although we can explain the distinguishing nature of consciousness, but it is very hard to explain how the experience form and how it is subjective to the observer who is experiencing the experience. This is the famous lines by great known philosopher and scientist David Chalmer. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5DfnIjZPGw)
Apart from my day to day job which I needed to serve my family and fulfill my worldly desire, this study about consciousness is very exciting. But at the same time I become nervous and goes haywire with some fears, what if there is no higher purpose of the understanding, that our mind carries. Then again I make myself convince that it doesn’t matter, what matters is some people are more conscious than others, they are more kind, more conscious towards their fellow life’s, their environment, and if we can understand the essence why some people are more conscious than others and if we can transfer or do the same level consciousness increase in others we can definitely make this world a better place to live and I guess that’s a worthy purpose to live for.
